November 2019 Honoree
christopher stump, RN
Christopher called me on a Monday and told me to go to the main VA Emergency Room. I told him "no." He called again on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I told him "no."
On Friday, my wife went with me for a blood test and Christopher said he wanted to talk to both of us. I had not told my wife about the other calls! Christopher told me to go directly to the main VA. I refused again, but my wife said she would drive me there.
I was admitted to the hospital from the Emergency Room. The doctors said they needed to spray my throat and put a tube down—really unpleasant. The test might show that nothing could be done and I would die! As it turned out, the test showed that treatment was needed.
If Christopher Stump would have stopped, I would be dead today. The treatment worked and I am great today. Thanks to the VA!
