After years of nursing under high stress as ICU charge, Chris continues to lead in displaying quality caretaking time to value the individual and always has time to support them emotionally. Recently a family expressed how thankful they were for Chris. I had unintentionally brought them all to tears when I shared with them the time Chris spent with their mother. The day before was their mother's 84th birthday. When Chris found out, he contacted the provider to attain a diet order so that he could order a piece of birthday cake. Chris sit at her bedside and helped her eat a piece of cake along with much-needed milk! He took time to learn about her story as well as the recent loss of her husband. Chris put a smile on her face for the last time. She deteriorated later that evening and died early the next morning. This is only one example of one of the many times that Chris has taken the time to make an impact on a patient's life. He is the most compassionate nurse that I know and he truly leads by example for us to follow.
