November 2023 Honoree
Christopher Wojnar, BSN, RN
My husband was his patient and had been in the ICU for almost 2 weeks. He was starting to get anxious and a bit down because he wasn’t feeling good and was in hospital for so long.
This nurse recognized this and called me in the morning. He asked me to bring some clothes from home. He also talked with my husband about his personal experience when he had a near death experience. They talked about their faith and my husband could relate to him. He was so kind, patient, empathetic and could relate to my husband's struggles. In addition, he requested the chaplain to visit us that day. All of this really helped my husband and it really seemed like this was a turning point in his attitude, which ultimately helped him have more determination and get better. He also gave exceptional care to my husband but the emotional/psychological help was priceless. He is an AMAZING nurse and has truly found his calling. We can’t thank him enough. Continue to hire and keep people like him - he is a big asset to this hospital, ICU, staff, patients and families!
Thank you, Christopher, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
