Christophine Boessi, BSN, RN

Fifi is a nurse on the 5th-floor ICU at the West LA VA hospital. I had a terrible reaction to my chemotherapy and was in the ICU for 4 days. During this time, Fifi went above and beyond by transporting me to get tests done, ensuring other teams of doctors (such as neuro) would speak to me, and ensuring my pain medication was prescribed on time due to my nerve damage. When I was able to move again, she advocated for my move to the general ward. This was crucial because my move enabled me to get much better rest and an easier time speaking with the multiple teams helping me. Fifi went above and beyond her normal duties. She did it with professionalism, but also humanity. She treated me as a person, held my hand when I cried, and listened to my woes when I was scared about nerve damage. She is an incredible human being, and the VA is lucky to have her!
