Today the changing landscape for Nurse Leaders demands more from Nursing Leaders. Christy has created an ED environment of compassion. Christy can be held up as a model of outstanding nursing leadership. Despite working under tremendous pressure, through her leadership, she has provided a haven of safety for staff, both physically and emotionally. Christy role-models caring behaviors that provide a setting where compassion is valued, and staff, in turn, treat patients and their families with deep consideration. Christy and her team made multiple changes in the ED to qualify as an "Older Adult Friendly ED". Many patients have come to appreciate the consideration made for the older adult population.
