Christy was our son’s nurse on two separate occasions. The first was after having surgery to fix a broken femur with a plate and seven screws. He was in Christy’s care post-surgery and was in a lot of pain. After she administered his medication he was having difficulty breathing. In a matter of seconds, Christy rang the alarm and a team swooped in to help. She was able to identify the issue, and I was beyond thankful for her quick thinking and reaction. His second surgery was to take out the plate and screws. I requested to have Christy. She stayed with him the entire time – even after her shift ended. Christy is such an asset to All Children's. She is our guardian angel and someone whom I will forever be grateful for.

I’ve always known Christy to be an incredible nurse and human being, and have experienced how she advocates for our patients on numerous occasions. She always puts the patient and family first – going above and beyond by considering what support they might need once leaving the hospital. Her quick, insightful reaction in this particular incident saved this boy’s life. As Christy’s friend and manager, I am so proud to have her on the PACU team.
