As a first time mother, I was going into delivery with only stories from family members and close friends, but still as nervous and anxious as once could be. I first met Christy on Thursday. She was originally not the nurse assigned to me but due to circumstances, she was. I now know that was a blessing from God. I probably would not have gotten through this process so well as I did. Christy exemplified what it is to be a compassionate, caring, and amazing nurse. I, being a nurse myself, now know that I have a far way to go to become half as wonderful as Christy is. Christy did everything in her power to make sure she eased my anxiety (3 days of labor). She advocated for me as if she knew me personally, she never once made me feel like a bother, and she stayed 3 hours past her shift just to ensure I had a safe and easy delivery. I really cannot express thanks enough and it really brings tears to my eyes to think that God was gracious to send an angel like Christy to east the fears of myself, husband, and family members during such a crucial time. She was also the best teacher and thoroughly explained everything with vigor and confidence. I really pray that she can be recognized for her exemplary service as an HCA/Palms West nurse and hope she can continue to shine on your team and unit.
