My grandmother came into the ICU and was very ill and in pain. Christy Wagoner was the only nurse who could get her to smile, even through her pain. Christy showed tremendous compassion and empathy for my grandma. Christy was patient and kind to her even though she struggled to communicate. Christy went out of her way to care for my grandpa and our entire family as we supported my grandma. As her condition continued to decline, Christy treated my grandma with more kindness and gentleness than any other provider I have met on this journey. As my grandma lost her battle with her illness, Christy’s real character came out, and she brought light and love to my family’s worst, darkest day. She is a true angel on earth, and she inspired me to continue my nursing school journey so that I can someday be as kind, compassionate, and helpful as her. On behalf of my grandma, grandpa, and my entire family, I want to say thank you to Christy for doing her best work and making the worst week of our lives a little better, as well as for the obvious care she showed for my grandma.
