Christyl used her lovely personality to really impact my grandpa. We came in and he was very grumpy due to pain and the circumstances. Almost nobody can get my grandpa to smile repeatedly and laugh so heartily. That is the distinction Christyl's personality projected onto my grandpa; he was smiling, laughing, big smiles and hearty laughter. This equates to increased comfort, peace of mind and an increase in mood. I cannot emphasize how difficult it is to produce this kind of reaction from my grandpa. It does not happen, especially in the hospital. It takes a very special, emotionally/socially aware person and Christyl embodies this. My grandpa could care less about any present he will get for Christmas, but I can guarantee he will remember the treatment he got from Christyl. The boost in mood/laughter/smiling is invaluable. I am so thankful Christyl was our nurse. I cannot express my appreciation of Christyl being herself and giving my grandpa the gift of laughter/smiling during a tough time. She deserves this award!
