Chung is a kind-hearted person who reflects on her career on how she takes care of patients.
Chung Lee is the paradigm of modern Florence Nightingale. Being a night shift nurse, I believe that she does not get all the accolades that she deserves.
She embodies the University of Maryland System's Shared Values.
Excellence. She provides exceptional care to the whole person. She does not just focus on why the patient came here but on the patient as a whole. She is usually the nurse who finds wounds that were not assessed during admission. When all staff is on their downtime, she is usually with a patient changing their dressing, turning, or giving them a bath. She will also discover orders that were not carried out and ensures that doctors are notified. Staff always want to get her patients as you know all orders are carried out, patients are clean, and most overnight issues are resolved. The patient complaint I get is that she DOES too much for them.
Integrity. She is honest and trustworthy. You can count on her to do the right thing according to the practices of the hospital. Years ago, when she was the falls champion, she made sure that all staff are updated on the recent fall practices. She ensured that all patients have all the proper fall precautions. Currently, she is a member of the staff nursing council. She is an advocate for bedside nurses. She apprises the staff for any changes in the practice.
Diversity. She embraces all patients and staff from different races, ethnicity, and religion. Initially, the patient perceives her as very loud and abrupt due to her accent, but once she takes care of them, her patients love her.
Discovery. Nursing is a continuous process of learning. Chung is always on the lookout of what is new on Epic or what is mandatory education. On huddle, she will teach staff how to navigate Epic and how she did her mandatory competencies.
Compassion. Chung is a kind-hearted person who reflects on her career on how she takes care of patients. I always tell everybody that If I or my family need hospitalization, I would like Chung to take care of us.
These values are not enough to describe Chung or why she is a DAISY Nurse. She is one of the best nurses I know.
