I am a 66-year-old woman with sepsis. I didn’t understand at the time that the infection could cause emotional issues as well, and one particular morning I was having a hard time, and she asked if she could give me a hug. And I said yes, and she hugged me while I cried, and then she sat and waited and talked with me for quite a few minutes. After I was in a little better state of mind, she asked if she could give me another hug before I left. Those few minutes that the young woman took the time to listen to an old woman cry and showed so much compassion. That encounter with Ciani has done more for me mentally than the medicine. All of the nurses and staff have been wonderful, but she truly went above and beyond. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
