Ciara was our daughter's nurse during our third night in the hospital. Our child's IV had become obstructed and needed to be removed. This was heartbreaking because my daughter was not drinking enough on her own, so I knew she would have to go through the pain of having another IV placed. Ciara went above and beyond to try to get our daughter to drink so she would not have another IV placed. She set up a tea party with apple juice and my daughter's favorite stuffed animals. After a few minutes, my daughter began to lose interest so she came up with another game to get her to drink. She used my daughter's straw as a syringe and made silly noises while my daughter slurped the juice from the straw. I believe Ciara's extra effort motivated my daughter to stay hydrated and prevented us from having another IV placed. She made it a priority to keep motivating my daughter to drink throughout the night so she would stay hydrated.
Ciara Murphy truly impacted my daughter's hospital stay, and for that, I am very thankful.
