Ciiru was genuinely glad to have been in the hallway near this patient when this happened because it saved the patient from potentially getting hurt.
Ciiru was on her way to attend to one of her patients when she saw another nurse's patient walking unsteadily in the hallway. Without hesitation, Ciiru stopped to assist this patient and make a quick assessment while convincing the patient to let her help the patient back to their room. After a few steps, the patient became dizzy and weak. The patient then began to lose her balance and Ciiru assisted the patient to the floor, avoiding injury. Quickly, Ciiru called out for help while quickly assessing the patient and looking them over for any wounds. Other staff members and I came with equipment and as a team began acquiring VS, BGL, orientation as Ciiru calmly informed the patient of what we were all doing and what to expect next. After the MD was made aware, orders were carried out, and the patient stabilized; Ciiru remained by the patient's side to calm them and keep them informed of what was going on, what to expect, as well as educating the patient. This all took place in the matter of 15-20 minutes, maybe 25. The patient's nurse had just left for their lunch break a few moments before this event. When the patient returned from break, Ciiru reported to them what had happened, what had been ordered, and all details of the event. Ciiru completed all the necessary paperwork, reporting, and documentation for the event and throughout the rest of the shift continued to regularly check up on this patient as well as with the patient's nurse to stay abreast of any new information or changes.

Ciiru was genuinely glad to have been in the hallway near this patient when this happened because it saved the patient from potentially getting hurt. Ciiru also stayed to help with handoff report with the patient's nurse at shift change so that the oncoming nurse could hear first-hand of the event. Ciiru embodies our cultural commitments with patient care, as demonstrated above; we are a team, and we work as one on this unit that has such a great feeling of belonging - our home base of River Birch.

Also, Ciiru has taken on being chair for our UBC meetings. She has devoted her personal time to brainstorm, create, and organize agendas, PowerPoints, signage, and emails to inform everyone of what UBC will cover, new information, and ways to get out thoughts and suggestions streamlined to innovate solutions and/or ideas that can make this already amazing unit with awesome teammates that much better! Ciiru created a "Think Tank" on the unit for teammates to anonymously pitch ideas, suggestions, and/or things we can work on to make the unit better. Ciiru has sent out detailed emails and PowerPoints as well as posted signage in teammate specific areas on the unit to encourage our engagement with UBC. I trust that if Ciiru has worked on anything, that thing has been done efficiently and well!
