Cinda is the perfect nurse - expert clinician and relief charge nurse, Chairs the unit's Partnership Council, is a SCNE nurse and the foremost reason she is deserving of this award is her skill as a preceptor.

This preceptor role recently challenged her immeasurably. Cinda precepted an experienced RN who eventually did not succeed on our unit. From their first shift together Cinda assessed very basic skills and competencies that were missing or questionable. Immediately Cinda arranged for a meeting with her manager to evaluate progress and identify ongoing issues, pulling in nursing informatics support and clinical educator support. Throughout the extensive orientation, Cinda preserved the orienteer's reputation and sense of belonging on the unit. Even when it was apparent that this new employee would not succeed on 7-East, Cinda was 100% supportive.
