July 2015 Honoree
cindie raulerson, RN
Cindie Raulerson has worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) since 1989, making her one of the most experienced and knowledgeable nurses on staff. In fall 2014, a high census and sicker patients led to a major need for new nurses in cardiac services. After a massive hiring strategy, 50 new nurses joined Children's, while the veterans swung into action helping to train and mentor the new hires. According to Jill Olney, Assistant Manager Cardiac Nursing, "Cindie immediately jumped onboard with the training, patiently explaining and teaching all the intricate details to these novice nurses that are so vital in the CICU." After her orientation was over, a new nurse also wrote Cindie a note, saying "With the huge influx of new people and almost constant proctoring needing to be done, I never got the feeling you would rather not have had a new employee around." Cindie's confidence in her own skills but willingness to seek out second opinions or help make her a strong teacher and an invaluable nurse.
Thank you, Cindie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
