November 2013 Honoree
cindy broome, RN
We had a patient that had been hospitalized for months. After such a long hospital stay, he had become depressed and began to give up hope on recovery or going home. Cindy, after talking to the patient, learned that he liked to garden. Cindy brought plants, soil, and a planter to his room. She assisted him and encouraged him to get out of the bed to garden each day. This kind of gesture helped the patient feel like a person and not a patient.
Thank you, Cindy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
