...Cindy has been a pediatric nurse caring for children and working in the infant unit on BBCH at MMC since her early 20's, for >30 years. In 1994 she came to work with me as I started the division of pediatric pulmonary medicine at MMC and has been with our division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine ever since. She has been the coordinator of the pediatric CF Clinic since 2008 and has been outstanding in the role. She developed the position into a true coordinator role, advocating for kids with CF at MMC, in the community and across the State.

She visits schools to advocate for CF kids with the school staff, she works with the family group to advocate for kids with CF from and insurance coverage standpoint and has worked tirelessly statewide to get more State support to help families with CF pay their bills. She takes a personal interest in every child and family, keeps up with their accomplishments outside of CF, tirelessly tries to find ways for families to cope with this awful disease by helping them with new devices, new medications and assistance from the CF Foundation anyway she can. She works hard to educate them about their disease and she has helped improve not only the quality of life with kids for CF across the State but with the Quality Improvement work she has championed our nutrition and pulmonary outcomes have improved compared to national standards.

She organized a wonderful CF Family Education Day every year and she is currently organizing a MMC team for the CF Walk to raise money for a cure. She is currently working as part of a Quality Improvement Initiative at MMC to help reward kids on BBCH for their compliance to therapies. She shows compassion every day, which is what you need to work with these families and they all adore her. She is struggling with a chronic illness currently and has not missed a day of work. A truly dedicated MMC employee-she is deserving of this award!
