This act of caring and kindness just blew me away that after a stressful week she still took the time to think about her patient’s family during this time.
During the time I have spent working with Cindy Hawk, I have come to learn and see how big of a heart she has and how kind she is. The week of Thanksgiving, the ICU was facing high census, high activity, and short staffing issues, and Cindy was taking care of a very ill patient whose family had been very involved and ultimately had chosen Hospice for their loved one, which was an unexpected decision that was made. The idea behind hospice is to keep the patient comfortable during their last days and months, but Cindy went above and beyond for the patient and the family for multiple days. I came in on Saturday, and I was walking through the ICU waiting room and noticed how it had been rearranged and set up for Thanksgiving. I, of course, asked about it and was told Cindy set that up for the family of the hospice patient so they would be able to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner despite being in the hospital with their loved one. This act of caring and kindness just blew me away that after a stressful week she still took the time to think about her patient’s family during this time. We are very lucky to have Cindy as one of our own!
