My daughter C was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease in January 2016 as a five-year-old. Starting in April of that year, she began receiving IVIG treatments monthly at St. James in Pontiac with Cindy. We began this journey as scared, concerned parents and patient, but Cindy goes above and beyond her duties as a nurse to ensure the best possible environment for our family. Between the initial "poke", constant requests from the patient for popsicles, and the long six plus hours for the infusion, Cindy wears a constant smile and jokes with C to make all her worries disappear. Seeing Cindy at the hospital is now a treat for C, and she actually looks forward to being silly with Cindy during her infusions. We have done our infusions with Cindy for four plus years, and she has made this experience better for our family. We have celebrated holidays and birthdays at the hospital with Cindy, and she now feels like a part of our family to C. OSF is blessed to have such a dedicated, compassionate, and caring nurse in their system.
