I was a patient at Chambersburg Hospital. As far as I can remember this day will always be one of the worst days of my life. I was 21 weeks pregnant when my water broke. I didn't know at that time that it meant my baby would not be able to survive. When I learned that, I was beyond devastated. My whole world came crumbling down and the memories after that are very surreal and indistinct but there is one thing I do remember and that is how I was treated.
I had the most wonderful, exceptionally humane, compassionate, and kind-hearted nurse anyone could ask for, especially at a time like that. Cindy, from the moment she met me treated me as if I was her family. I remember very vividly when my daughter was born, she cried with my family, she felt our pain, even though she had just met us and that kind of compassion for human beings is rare. I remember seeing her by my daughter's side until her little heart stopped beating and made sure I understood the process and everything that was happening. Everything at that moment for me seemed to be going in slow motion.
I know that a lot of what she did for me wasn't something that she had to do, for example, call various funeral homes and cemeteries for me and my husband because at the time we were just in so much emotional pain we couldn't think straight. Cindy helped us in so many ways that day I could never repay her. She is truly made for that profession; she is such a compassionate, loving human being, I'm sure I am not the only person whose life she has touched deeply.
Cindy most definitely went above and beyond for me and made sure to comfort me in any way she could. Thank you so much!
