May 2012 Honoree
cindy stirratt, RN
Cindy Stirratt works as a supervisor and as a staff nurse. Cindy has excellent assessment skills. She takes care of her patients with empathy, passion and a heart felt desire. She is an example of that excellent nurse that everyone wants if they were a patient in the hospital. She believes that at the bedside she can truly make a difference in a patient’s and their family’s lives. She demonstrates motivation, strength, caring, trustworthiness and kindness. She has been seen sitting at a dying patient’s side when there was no one else there, so that patient would not have to die alone.
Cindy also helps to head up a committee of Pella Regional nurses whose objective is to send a woman in Haiti to nursing school.
Cindy has become a role model for others in how to face adversity. Not only was her husband diagnosed with cancer, but she was diagnosed with a heart condition. Cindy recovered from heart surgery, takes care of her husband, and continues to work full time. She does all of this with a very positive attitude. She spoke at a Cardiovascular nursing class, educating other nurses through her experience.
