Cindy VanKampen, RN, ACNO
Cindy began her nursing career in April 1980. She joined North Ottawa Community Hospital in 1998 as the Perioperative Educator. She brought to NOCH a tremendous amount of surgical expertise. During her 28 years here, there is probably not a hat she hasn’t worn.
Cindy moved quickly into management and up the chain, serving as Chief Nursing Officer for NOCH, and is ending her career with Trinity Health as ACNO. Cindy is a true caregiver to all of us (and is lovingly referred to as mom). She makes everyone feel comfortable going to her for anything. She thinks of everyone around the clock and has been known to come in during her off hours to make sure those working nights and weekends are taken care of.
No matter the weather, she consistently made that long drive to work. She is solid, reliable, relentless, available, encouraging, and has been a mentor to many. Cindy’s career embodies the true spirit of the Lifetime Achievement Award. She truly cares for everyone and takes every part of her job to heart.
Cindy is 200% about patient care and safety. Her dedication to the role of Nursing is evident in every aspect of her life. Her incredible ability to cultivate a strong team around her can do nothing but make her shine, and she is a role model to all and will forever be spoken about with reverence.
