We have a patient who has been here for more than a month. The patient has been saddened with the fact that she will not be able to be discharged before Christmas or soon after. Cindy took notice of that situation and took it upon herself to adopt this patient during Christmas. Cindy's compassion and care go above and beyond our nursing care. Cindy brought the patient a Christmas gift that has relation to the patient's interest. Thepatient loves poetry and poems. Cindy brought a Kindle with an Amazon gift card so the patient can enjoy her Christmas. Prior to Christmas, the patient didn't want to come out of her room. After Christmas, the patient started to ambulate outside her room and smile more. Cindy brought life back to a patient who thought she had been forgotten even by her own family. No one came to see her for Christmas, but as a unit, we went to her room with Cindy and presented her Christmas gift together.
