Cinthya recently demonstrated her role as a patient/family advocate in an exemplary way. She determined that several medical teams did not understand the patient and family's wishes and were offering care that the patient and family had voiced as unacceptable. Cinthya brought these teams together and spoke to them on behalf of the patient and family and reiterated the stated wishes of the couple not to have further invasive procedures and to be discharged home. Through her intervention, the medical teams understood the family's point of view and facilitated the patient's discharge to his home. Without Cinthya's advocacy, the patient's wishes may have been missed. Cinthya epitomized the true essence of a DAISY nurse- Skilled in listening, assessing and making a difference in the patients' lives.
