When I was admitted I must admit I was pretty nervous. Recently diagnosed with rectal cancer and scheduled to undergo major perianal surgery with ileostomy creation was heavy on my mind. What a blessing it was to be greeted by Claire and her warm welcoming smile. I had no idea when I met her what role she would play in my recovery. I learned quickly I could count on her. She demonstrated genuine care and compassion, communicated clearly and she had my back. In fact, she is so clinically awesome that she would work as charge nurse which was a bummer for me as it meant I would not benefit from her direct care services for that shift. However, she was like a helicopter and would still look out for me. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
