I work in Ward 8 at Birmingham Women's Hospital. I would like to nominate my manager, Claire, for the DAISY Award for the incredible support and compassion she has shown me during one of the most difficult times in my life. Claire has not only been a manager but a true source of strength, guidance, and kindness. I still remember the day I came to her to request annual leave to go back home and told her about my decision to get a divorce. She stood up, hugged me, and whispered, 'it is a difficult decision, but for making that I am proud of you'. It may seem like a simple sentence, but at that moment, her words gave me strength on the battlefield. We often underestimate the power of kind words, but hers changed my life.

Throughout my journey, Claire has supported me through my personal struggles, guided me in coping, encouraged me to speak with the chaplain, helped me work on my sleep schedule, and always welcomed me into her office with hope and reassurance.
Her compassion goes beyond words. She has been there for me not just as a manager but as someone who truly cared for my well-being, especially as an international nurse who left loved ones behind. She made me feel I had someone standing behind me, ready to support me.

I am deeply grateful to Claire. My gratitude extends not only to me but also to my parents for looking after me when I was far from home. I wish I could give her more than a thousand awards for her compassion, but through this nomination, I hope she will be recognised for the extraordinary person and leader she is.
