Super, super person! Claire has been my night nurse all but 2 nights. She is a gem! Very caring, positive attitude, excellent people skills, demonstrates care and totally focuses on the patient and how they are improving. Her medical care and understanding of my individual issues was great to have. She made my extended stay much more pleasant. SJH should be proud to have her on your staff! This has been a whirlwind experience for me. I started out with a sore throat, went for a general check-up, was sent to the Ears Neck and Throat Department at another facility, had a CAT and PET Scan, a biopsy of my throat, and before I knew it was scheduled for cancer surgery at St Joseph Hospital. Dr. B was phenomenal, and I was totally amazed at the professionalism, knowledge, and expertise that are located in one place.
The Cancer turned out to be in the tonsils part of the soft palate Uvula and required a Radical Neck Dissection as well as the removal of soft tissue in the mouth. Claire was my nurse for 3 of each 12-hour shift including right after surgery. Any company or hospital is only as good as the people that represent it. Claire was extraordinary! My pain was off the charts. The fear of the unknown and the potential complications of cancer weighs heavy on your mind. Claire put my fears to rest, had compassion for my pain, knew exactly what to do, and definitely had the expertise to help me get through this difficult time in my life. St. Joseph Hospital Surgery recovery was phenomenal in all ways.
