Claire has developed streamlined ways of working and continues to strive for a better service.
Claire is a fantastic nurse with a strong commitment to developing the Metabolic Medicine service and offering our children and families the best possible care experience. Claire strives to do better and be better and pushes me to do the same, Claire is unphased by challenges and goes ahead and gets the job done. Since joining the metabolic medicine team four years ago, Claire has constantly worked to improve herself and improve the service. She has developed streamlined ways of working and continues to strive for a better service. She has at times had to manage the (nursing) service alone, during times of staff sickness, etc. and during these times she has stepped up and worked additional hours to ensure the patients do not miss out. Claire is working towards becoming a professional nurse advocate and is due to attend the assessment module of the ANP course later this year. She is forward-thinking in developing nurse-led services which will bring us in line with other metabolic centres and one of the very few centres that will offer paediatric nurse-led Familial hypercholesterolemia clinics. Claire advocates for her patients to receive the best possible care. An example of this would be that Claire spoke up for a patient she felt was being transitioned too quickly and she provided much-needed additional support to the young person and her mother in order for them to feel secure in moving forward to adult services. Claire is also a much-loved friend to us all in the Metabolic medicine team offering advice, support, and a listening ear and we are all very lucky to have her and work with her.
