Claire is an exceptional person and showed this in how she treated my father. She was caring, patient, and engaged from the moment he walked into the room. Watching her work with him made me feel like he was more than just a bed number to her. He is terminally ill, but that never seemed to cross her mind. She took care of him like he could live 100 years more.
Even when she wasn't with my dad (down the halls, with other patients, with other staff), she healed everyone she came in contact with respectfully, personably, and genuinely.Claire was genuinely nice to everyone. I was in and out of the room quite a bit, so I got to see her interact with my father, other patients, and other staff members. She treated everyone with respect and, if you didn't know any better, you'd think that she knew every person on that floor for many years.
My dad is probably the fussiest patient you'll ever meet. He's talkative and will ask for a thousand things a day. Despite this, there is not one single thing my dad asked of her that she did not fulfill happily. She brought him countless cups of coffee, water, and coke. She even once held the cup while he drank it and laughed and joked with him. He mentioned that she was his favorite nurse and you cannot imagine how big that is. He hates hospitals, but he loved Claire.
Another thing that struck me with Claire is that she not only cared for my dad, but for us. She didn't once leave the room without asking if there was anything she could do for us as well. It's just another way of her going above and beyond and it is very much appreciated.
If I could request nurses, I would definitely ask for Claire again. She's so incredibly genuine and such a perfect fit for her job.
