My mom still talks about her to our other family members and tells them what a kind-hearted person she is.
I don’t normally do things like but I think that nurse Clara needs to be recognized for her hard work. We took in my 85-year-old mother a few months back. She went in feeling very ill. Nurse Clara made us feel very reassured, and more than anything, she made my mother feel comfortable and heard.

My mother does not speak English. Nurse Clara was there explaining everything to her directly, not through a translator or through us. She spoke directly to her and explained everything to her. My mother was very nervous and anxious. Nurse Clara made her feel relaxed and reassured. In times like what we are living in now, it makes the older generation feel comfortable when they have a Latina nurse who understands our language, our culture, and our family values and dynamics.

Nurse Clara was very professional; she even held my mom's hand and let my mom speak and vent about how she was feeling. She didn’t make her feel rushed, even though I know that it was busy. She took her time with my mom, and that meant so much to my mom and us. She brought her in some warm blankets and checked up on her and us many times.

My mom always has to get poked for an IV several times, and Nurse Clara got her IV in the first try and even took her blood, so my mom didn’t have to get poked more times. I have taken several of my family members, and I always see Nurse Clara working hard. It makes us in the community feel good to see such a friendly and familiar face.

Knowing we are in the ER and having to go in there under ugly circumstances is nerve-racking, but once I see her and know she is there, it makes me feel like everything is going to be okay. Even if she isn’t the nurse taking care of us, I know that if I needed her, she would be there to assist us. Your facility is lucky to have her there. She is very kind, compassionate, and understanding.

My mom still talks about her to our other family members and tells them what a kind-hearted person she is. She tells everyone that if they feel sick, they should go to the emergency room because Nurse Clara and everyone else make people feel comfortable. I will forever choose going to your hospital knowing there are such kind-hearted people there like nurse Clara. She deserves this award.
