I would like to share with you praise for the excellent care I received during my recent birth of my son. I was scheduled for an induction of labor, and my birth plan was for an epidural-free, non-medicated natural birth. I previously used a doula for the birth of my son in 2016, so I had a lot of nervousness about being without a doula due to the COVID pandemic. I was assigned Clare Kaminski, RN, as my labor nurse and she was absolutely wonderful. Her experience and wisdom helped steer the course of my labor. She was calm, encouraging, and honest. She did a lot of physical work applying counter pressure for me and made several excellent decisions in the induction of Pitocin and subsequent management of my progress. I delivered a healthy boy at 6:17 pm without the use of an epidural or other pain medications, and with perineum intact. None of that would have been possible without Clare, especially towards the end when things got very painful. She empowered me to have an incredible birth experience that I shall carry with me for life! This baby was a result of IVF, following two miscarriages last year. It was important to my self-image and full regard to my body to prove it could do what it is was made to do after letting me down so much with infertility. Having a natural delivery has allowed me to have so much peace with myself and Clare was very attuned to these desires and wishes. She will be endeared to me always for her persistence, faith, and willingness to push me and support me to the birth I longed to have. I myself am a nurse and have been for 15 years. I know what it means to put your heart into a patient's care entirely, and Clare did this wholeheartedly. I am forever indebted to her excellent care and did not want to delay my gratitude for her skills and efforts. She is certainly deserving of recognition.
