The patient presented to the ER with a police escort, he had been refused service at another ER. It was bitter cold out and he was very intoxicated making him a candidate for hypothermia. Other nurses turned away but not Clare, she tenderly helped him undress out of cold wet clothing like he was her own son, wrapped him in warm dry blankets and even gave him tissues to wipe his eyes. Clare fed him a warm meal and let him sleep. The patient hadn't eaten in two days.
Clare didn't cure his alcoholism but she touched him with her compassion. Clare in her quiet compassionate voice asked him to quit drinking. The patient just cried when she asked him.
Thank you, Clare, on behalf of the patient.
