Claudia was so encouraging, so empathetic, so caring, and helpful while supporting me throughout the delivery.
It all started on a peaceful Sunday night. I was 40 + 2 days and had previously experienced two, third-degree tears that caused a traumatic birth experience and I also lost nearly 3 liters of blood. With all these previous complications, I was not sure what to expect this time. When I got there, I was examined and was 5 centimeters dilated. I was allocated to a midwife that had just started her first shift. It happened that Claudia was the most experienced midwife on the shift, and they decided she should take over and care for me. She was so welcoming and made me and my husband really comfortable. She listened to us, had a calm feel all the time, but also inspired me that she had a very good experience and confidence. She carefully watched over me, looking at how I felt, taking care we were both strong enough and had everything we needed.

At the same time, without affecting our care, she taught a student about her practice. While I was progressing unexpectedly quickly into my labour, she discreetly contacted a senior doctor to check my perineum and my varicose vein to see if there was a need for an episiotomy on the left side to avoid a varicose vein. She made everything so calm, so relaxing that it all seemed surreal thinking I was going to give birth soon. It was going to happen so soon that, while the senior doctor was examining my perineum when I felt I couldn't cope anymore. They didn't have all the equipment in place, but first, she ensured I could control my pain and discreetly and effectively prepared everything needed for delivery. She was so encouraging, so empathetic, so caring, and helpful while supporting me throughout the delivery. It seemed like a dream: our baby was successfully delivered. I lost 6 times less blood than my previous birth and had a 'superficial' 2nd-degree tear on the other side of the perineum. She was celebrating with us all the joy. I cry all the time I mention her care. I feel so grateful for such a birth experience. She was for me an angel that shows all her dedication in a cheerful but also humble way. I pray that she is kept happy, healthy, and strong to make more parents welcome their miracle in a safe, caring way that I and my husband always remember with gratitude and respect.
