In general, from the first day, Claudia's behavior has been excellent. The way she speaks to my husband is with respect and with compassion. She answers all our questions with great patience and confidence. She makes the situation more bearable and enjoyable. She is always willing to listen, and this makes her stand out because she makes the patient and the whole family feel more comfortable. She is an excellent human being. Something also very important is that when she speaks, she always makes sure to make eye contact that makes us feel heard and understood.

I am proud to work with Miss Claudia Hernandez, as her nurse manager for the past two years. She is a newly hired ICU nurse who continues to develop her critical care skills. In our Neuroscience ICU, she has a special heart for our department, its leaders and her peers as well as some of our unique patient populations. In pursuit of compassionate patient care, Claudia is tireless. Patients are often very critical or just received new and difficult diagnoses in the Neuroscience ICU. To our neuro patients and families, she has shown empathy and compassion. Regardless of their actions or level of confusion, she treats her patients with dignity.
As she interacts with her patients and families, she has an easy way about her, creating confidence that helps her patients to feel that they are in good hands. Claudia is patient, professional, and takes her time to understand the needs and concerns of her patients. She establishes special connections with her patients and families and has made a significant difference in many patients' lives. She listens to her patients, keeps them up-to-date with their plan of care, and in stressful situations, she calms and assures them that she is with them through their difficult times.
Claudia has a wonderful bedside manner and it shows through the thanks patients and families would give her at the end of her shift. She would spend the extra time making phone calls to the pharmacy or physicians, when her patients needed new medications or are lacking a medication, advocating so that her patients received the best care as quickly as possible. This often meant that she would constantly call them until she got her patient's medications. I believe we are chosen by nursing, we do not choose nursing, and nursing has definitely chosen Miss Claudia Hernandez as one of its special ones.
