Claudia exemplifies so many amazing nursing qualities. In January, I was a patient under Claudia’s care during my induction and delivery of my son. When I met Claudia, she immediately made me feel at ease as she kindly introduced herself, gave clear instructions and expectations, and checked how I was doing physically and emotionally. She effectively and professionally communicated with my husband, family, and other medical staff. As she cared for me and monitored me and my baby’s status, she took swift action when Baby started having decelerations. She demonstrated amazing empathy and genuine care while managing our treatment all while maintaining a smile and personal touch. When it was decided that a C-section was needed, Claudia made the world of a difference by reassuring my husband and me, that she'd be with us the whole time, by telling us what to expect and by displaying full confidence in the care team and health of our baby stating, “no matter what, today will be baby's birthday.” Claudia continued to make a lasting impact after the c-section was complete as she explained and answered questions I had. She assisted me in feeding my baby, monitored my questionable vitals, and ensured my well-being and comfort post-surgery. She even shared that she also had 2 C-sections and gave me personal insight on how to recover well and what to ask for on the post-partum unit. I am incredibly grateful that Claudia was my nurse, and I'm amazed at all the ways she embodies what a nurse is with such beauty!
