Clayton Biggerstaff, RN
I am writing to formally recognize and commend Clayton for the exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion he provided to my son and me during an extremely critical and emotional time.
My son was brought in following a suicide attempt by overdose. In moments like that, clear communication, coordination, and compassionate guidance are not just helpful—they are essential. Clayton consistently delivered all of this at an extraordinary level.
What stood out most was his unwavering commitment to ensuring my son received appropriate and timely mental health care. He went far beyond routine responsibilities, proactively and persistently reaching out to multiple mental health providers and care teams to get answers, clarify next steps, and coordinate placement. He demonstrated remarkable patience and determination in navigating what is often a complex and challenging process, always keeping my son’s best interests at the center of his actions.
Equally important, he maintained consistent, thoughtful communication with us throughout the process. He took the time to explain what was happening, what options were being explored, and what we could expect next. In an environment that felt overwhelming and uncertain, his steady presence and clear communication made a profound difference in our ability to cope.
This level of advocacy and follow-through clearly came from genuine care for both the patient and the family. He treated my son with dignity and respect during a highly vulnerable moment and ensured that we never felt forgotten or left in the dark.
In my view, Clayton exemplifies the highest standards of nursing practice—not only in clinical care, but in communication, advocacy, and compassion. His efforts had a meaningful and lasting impact on our family during one of the most difficult experiences we have ever faced.
