Neighborhood 3C CLC Independence Pointe exemplifies Charlie Norwood VA's mission and values.  3C has discovered and reported malfunctioning glucometer machines, which prevented Veterans under their care from receiving unneeded medications. The neighborhood was concerned that there was no report given on Veterans under their care from outside dialysis centers for continuity of care.  The neighborhood developed a communication sheet that the dialysis center completes and returns following each visit.  This communication sheet is now utilized on all three neighborhoods to communicate between the dialysis centers and the CLC.  3C CLC team aims to provide exceptional Veteran care to each Veteran while admitted to the neighborhood.  This is experienced by Veterans and recognized by the Veterans, as one Veteran wrote a month ago wrote to Dr. Jackson:

Dear Dr. Jackson,

I am about to leave the CNVAMC (UD), where I spent six weeks in the CLC, 3C, Independence Point.

At 85 years of age, living alone, recovering from head and throat cancer, I knew I would not be able to care for myself and drive the 35 miles to the radiation center for 6 weeks of treatment.

I was so fortunate to be admitted to the VA CLC 3C Uptown.

Much, much more than expected.  I found a dedicated team of professionals.  Each and every employee observed performed their assigned duties in the most outstanding manner.  3C is a great example of teamwork, coordination, and cooperation.

To me, Unit 3C is the best example possible of VA Care.

Thanks to Everyone.
