Mr. Hatulan went over and above his job title of a “nurse”. In addition to caring for my wife, he had to literally “Guard the Alzheimer’s” patient in the next room. However, this never affected the nursing care my wife received which included medicine dispensing, fresh water, and ice or regular timed visits to check on my wife’s comfort and “pain level”. Additionally, he always had a smile that was infectious, lifting our spirits immensely. Mr. Hatulan also solved an issue with skin irritation caused by incontinence and the solid waste constantly coming into contact with her skin. Mr. Hatulan installed a rectal bag to reduce that problem and indeed it did, amazing. Mr. Hatulan never had anything but a big smile and an exceptional attitude which helped him elevate himself a good bit above his colleagues. Mr. Hatulan never failed to ask me if there was something he could do or get to help me feel more comfortable, which I greatly appreciated. Mr. Hatulan is the exact person with the work ethic and personality this award was meant for. Thank you, Clem, for making a very bad situation more tolerable.
