Clemente was my nurse when I was admitted after having been bitten 4 times by a brown recluse. I have had more experience with medical personnel than I care to remember, due to multiple medical situations in my immediate family; but I have never had any nurse as kind, compassionate, professional and knowledgeable as him. He explained everything that was going on at all times in a way I could understand in spite of my morphine-induced haze. He somehow made me feel like I was part of all decisions made when the reality was that everything was doctor's orders and I had no control of anything. He remembered small things which meant a lot.
On Friday night, Clemente asked if I wanted the TV on. I told him I only watch TV when my Steelers are on. That Sunday, he walked into my room at game time and told me they are playing. The fact that he not only took the time to look it up but also remembered, meant the world to me. Another day I had an unwanted guest at 11 pm. He immediately took steps to give me a code word so that he could ask someone to leave, should it happen again. He put himself in an uncomfortable situation so I didn't have to be. He balanced the fine line of being there when I needed him and not smothering me. Clemente is simply the best.
