Cliff Vaida, RN goes the extra mile with each patient, especially the difficult ones, a psychotic patient who was extremely loud and disrupting the unit. I saw Cliff walking and talking with him outside on the patio, to help calm him down. Another patient who got very agitated on the unit, to the point of throwing objects, Cliff was able to follow up with a long conversation with him, encouraging the patient to continue his treatment plan and write down any questions for the primary team. I told Cliff this was a very nice gesture, and he said to me, "Well, our patients are people too, with their own hopes and dreams." His ability to calm and get patients to continue their treatment plan makes for a good outcome.
