A 52-year-old patient came to see a Cardiologist in NMC Shahba Medical Centre. Initial patient assessment was done and the patient was stable. While awaiting his turn, suddenly the patient collapsed and needed CPR. Code blue was activated immediately. The code blue team was prompt to arrive at the scene within a minute. There was no time to shift the patient to a room, the presence of mind of one of the staff made the patient lie down on the floor and the other staff immediately got into their respective roles under the command of the team leader. I could see the level of professionalism exhibited by the staff, and their confidence in carrying out their respective roles. They were very clear in their communication with each other. The respect shown to the patient and the way they handled the sensitivity of the situation and maintained the privacy of the patient were exceptional in spite of the situation being in an open lobby. The excellent teamwork assured the patient was continuously monitored until the ambulance arrived and till the patient shifted to the hospital. The level of compassion could be seen in this team throughout the whole process. It was indeed wonderful teamwork that made sure the patient survived.
