Codi identified a patient who had been physically abused with her assessment skills. She quickly let the instructor and the nursing staff know and the patient was then able to provide details regarding the abuse. Without her assessment, the patient would have returned to the same situation. Codi was a true advocate for the patient.  Codi was also able to provide lifesaving care to a person in her community. While she was working a part time job as a bus driver, she used her Basic Life Support skills to provide emergency care until help arrived. She was honored by the school system and the community. Her story was on several news stations and the family was thankful for the quick thinking and training she received as a student nurse. She is an example of one who is concerned for others and responds quickly to provide quality care.
