Codi allowed me to come close to my son, talked to me about everything that was going on, and comforted me as best she could.
It has taken me quite some time to put anything down in writing because this nomination has to do with the worst day of my life and I don't want to talk about that day. But we had an amazing team who deserves to be recognized. One day in February, my 3-month-old son stopped breathing while at daycare. He was taken to Memorial Central where he had an amazing team of nurses who cared for him. They were kind professional and determined to do whatever they could for my boy. One of the RNs who stood out the most was Codi. They were having a hard time getting an IV while doing CPR and she came in and got one in his scalp. At first, she was very involved in his care. As things calmed down some she became more involved with us. She allowed me to come close to my son, talked to me about everything that was going on, and comforted me as best she could. Eventually, a helicopter team came to take my son to the Children's hospital and they weren't going to let me ride with him. She convinced them to let me go. After my son and I left she escorted my husband outside to his car answering all of his questions and ensuring his safety before she let him drive away. She is an excellent nurse very skillful and knowledgeable but she is also so compassionate for patients their families and their needs. That day was the worst day of my life but I am very grateful for the whole team who worked so hard for my son that day.
