When I was in the hospital, I was told my heart could give out at any time. I was ready to give up and was losing my will to fight anymore.

Cody was my nurse on the night shift. When he came in, it was like he could sense that I was giving up.

He said, “Sit up here and talk to me.”

I told him, “Do I have to?”

When he said yes, I sat on the side of the bed, and he sat down beside me. He explained what was going on, even going as far as drawing out a diagram and showing me how my heart works and what they were going to do to fix it.

I immediately felt better. I didn’t worry about anything while Cody was taking care of me, and I didn’t hesitate to voice any feelings I had.

Cody is a gem who gave me back the fight and will to live. I will never forget the compassion he showed and the love he gives to his patients. He will always have a special place in my heart.
