November 2017 Honoree
cody schindler, BSN,RN
During a Cath Lab activation at Mercy Health West, all on call members were fighting terrible weather conditions at night, to get to the hospital. Visibility was poor, rain was heavy, and in some areas the roads were unsafe. Cody apparently lives in a rural area and had a downed tree in a road, blocking his path. He had a saw in his car and got out to cut the tree, and came to work.
While I have a great appreciation, pride, and respect for our acute MI teams that leave their families in the middle of the night to help strangers, this was a behavior I had never seen or heard before. Cody is an excellent nurse, but this behavior was truly exemplary.

Thank you, Cody, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
