August 2026 Honoree
Colby Harrison, Registered Nurse
I am a retired nurse. I was admitted to the 4th-floor Medical Unit after a hypertensive stroke and placed in the care of Colby, RN. As a nurse, my knowledge base regarding strokes is pretty extensive. As a result of that, I was scared of the possible consequences related to this new diagnosis. I could tell that Colby was a relatively new nurse, but her care and compassion went above and beyond her years of experience, helping to alleviate my fears. When we learned we shared a passion for helping people move from their worst to the best they could be, we bonded immediately. We shared stories, and she spent more time with me than she was obligated to, just to help alleviate my anxiety and restore my mental peace. The world is a better place because of her and her passion for nursing. She is not afraid to ask questions or seek assistance from seasoned nurses when faced with situations she has not yet experienced, and she is a dedicated patient advocate. I feel her career path will be very rewarding for her, her employers, peers, and, most importantly, her patients. Santa Rosa Medical Center is blessed to have her, and I, personally, feel blessed to have met her.
Thank you, Colby, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
