March 2022 Honoree
Colby Hill, MSN, RN, CNL
When I woke up from being under anesthesia, everything was blurry. I was coughing uncontrollably and felt that I couldn’t breathe. Colby remained calm and made me feel safe. He gave me a nebulizer treatment and held it for me because I couldn’t coordinate it myself at that point. I was terrified and anxious. However, Colby allowed me to hold his hand tight and talked me through deep breathing, lowering my respirations and anxiety. He was very attentive afterward getting me more blankets and feeding me ice chips. He kept the conversation going which helped me stay relaxed. I am just so thankful that we have such great nurses at SMJH. He truly exemplified our caring tradition. Thank you for making me feel safe. You turned a very scary situation for me into a relaxing, comfortable conversation.
Thank you, Colby, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
