Colette Campbell, RN, is our very first winner of The DAISY Award at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa. Her Award was announced during our Nurses Week celebration in May 10, 2012. With friends, co-workers, providers, Board members and Senior Executive team members present Colette humbly accepted this special honor.
Colette will be recognized at the Mercy Network luncheon reception June 22, 2012. Colette provides exceptional compassionate care to her patients in the ED and begins a legacy for many nurses to follow from Davis County Hospital.
Her nominations read:
“I was overjoyed to nominate Colette and it is my pleasure to work with her in the ED. Every day when I get to work with her I know that no matter how busy the ED is that day my patients will be getting the best possible care that they can receive. Colette is more than willing to go the extra mile to be the patient advocate. She cares for people with the approach…’how would I want my family members to be cared for if they were lying on that bed’ and portrays it in that manner with her patients. I believe Colette displays that nursing as an art and a science with each and every patient cares for.”
“Colette works hard when she is on duty never neglecting the needs of her staff or the patients. As stated by a patient of hers, Colette offers a soft, calm demeanor when caring for all ages and if you have ever had the opportunity to receive care from her she makes you feel like you are the only person she is caring for in the world.
Co-workers and medical staff recall a situation with a pediatric patient seen in the ER. The child presented in the ER very ill and the family needed comforting. Colette kindly organized a support team to help with the family. She comforted them through a tragic time, and provided amazing nursing care while remaining confident and calm.
Members of the team stated Colette makes a difference during times like these. She gives more than 100 % every day. No matter what happens, Colette always remains level headed making wise decisions. Colette is an exceptional nurse and it is with pleasure we nominate her to receive the DAISY Award.”
