I'm not even sure where to start. Colette was my nurse for a reason that day. She was an "angel on earth." I was scheduled for two procedures on the same day. The first one was with her. She was genuine, compassionate, gentle, attentive and did everything in her power to make me comfortable. Not only was she wonderful with me, but the doctor sent her out to tell my husband my surgery was unsuccessful. Colette's bedside manner was incredible. I was noticeably nervous, for I was having the first part of my procedure awake before being transported. She talked to me the entire time (trying to take my mind off everything). She didn't leave my side. Anything I needed, wanted, asked for, she was right there for me.
She not only was my nurse before my procedure, but she also followed me into the operating room. She sat directly in front of me the entire time. She brushed my hair out of my face, she held my hand, she made sure I was "covered," she told me I was doing great, and she tried to calm me. She was very peaceful, which helped with my anxiety about being awake. I am sure all of these actions are routine and natural for Colette, but they were what I needed that morning.
