August 2017 Honoree
colin james, RN
Our daughter had to have an emergency appendectomy. Due to overflow, she ended up in the maternity ward. Anna is a precocious but anxious 12 year-old, and the Float Staff did an excellent job at caring for her. Particularly of exceptional note is Colin James, RN. Colin truly instinctively knew how to approach A. As "Special Patient Services" in the past, we have spent a fair amount of times at Stanford with various family member issues. Brilliant, funny, caring, and exceptional in all ways at his job, Colin made A's difficult experience as good as anyone ever could. By watching how he expertly did his job and interacted with A, we also picked up tips that will help us as parents when we deal with our 3 children when they are unwell or anxious and being difficult about treatment for pain and injuries. We have never met a nurse in the hospital that we learned more from. He has a true gift as a practitioner for young patients and their families. Stanford and all of his patients are lucky to have him.
Thank you, Colin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
